Worth the money for a first-rate look at scholarship today.,

First-rate scholars have contributed up-to-date (to 2007 or so) introductory essays about several different aspects of Old Norse literature and culture. The "culture" part can't be emphasized enough - some of the most interesting articles concern medieval Scandinavian archaeology, politics, and transportation.
