Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Companions at Table is part of the Wine-friendly Food Series published by Toyon Hill Press. This cookbook series is dedicated to the concept of wine being a condiment at table. Within this series wine is presented, not as an ingredient, rather as a companion to the food being served.

From the Author

The purpose of the cookbook is to foster the companionship of those who gather around table to break bread together. An old adage states, talk occurs at a meal; conversation takes place over a meal with food and wine. We have brought together recipes for sharing with family and friends, as well as entertaining guests. Many Americans do not yet associate wine with food, yet wine is one of the oldest foods known to humans. This cookbook is dedicated to the "pleasure principle" of wine with food. We present travel tips about visiting the many regions in America where wine makers are planting and developing Italian varietals. Throughout this cookbook we bring new complexities of taste and texture to complement these wines which are adapting to American vineyards.
