Play Dead's final album, Company Of Justice, is definitely their swan song album. While The First Flower and The Promise Land were fun rockin' albums, Company Of Justice takes the cake as being their most memorable. This album really defines what 80's goth-rock was all about. The obviously british, crooning vocals. The sheet-metal electric guitar style, the tribal drumming, and effects-layden funky bass. It all creates a wonderfully dark, danceable rock album with goth undertones. I think Play Dead, along with Specimen, really perfected the british goth rock style and paved the way for the death rock scene that was ahead. I recommend this album to fans of Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend, Killing Joke, and other bands of that nature.

splendid stuff. atmospheric punch from oxfordshires finest. blending funk, pop, industrial & menace in a multi textured whoosh . sadly their last offering. incidentally burning down is a previously released b side not as you state. also released a marvellous dance fandango under name MAD.
