This is an excellent cd for an excellent film. I only have one complaint....we can't get this on video or DVD. The music for this film was an excellent conterpoint to the haunting dark fairy-tale aspect of the film. IF you haven't read Angela Carter or seen this film I would. Mr Fenton is a beautiful composer and it is no surprise that this and his other work (Ever After) are two of my favorites. They even put the naration from the the end of the film(or is it the begining?) on the first track.

Combining the elements of "Little Red Riding Hood" with those of the werewolf genre, this is a wonderful little horror thriller. The quiet background narrative by Sarah Patterson, along with a masterfully ominous soundtrack by George Fenton, help make for a cult classic. A visual and auditory treat, not for those of shallow feeling, or of limited imagination.

Atmospheric and dreamy soundtrack,

Lush warm strings, beautiful melodies and harmonies. It worked brilliantly in the film, and makes great listening by itself. It's music of contrasts - dark and light, frightening and reassuring. If you ignore the pointless spoken piece (which only made slightly more sense within the film) it's fantastic. One of my all time favourites.

George Fenton's score for "The Company Of The Wolves" is by far my favourite soundtrack of all time. In this simple but lush impressionist/romantic score, Fenton successfully combines a small orchestra, with unique instrumentation focusing on several flutes and strings, with otherworldly and eerie synthesiser sounds. The amalgamation of the traditional instruments and synthesisers blend together in a smooth an integral way that I've never heard done quite as successfully as this in a soundtrack before. The dynamics, mood, and texture of the music are a perfect match for the dreamy and dark, old-world faerie tale atmosphere of the movie that employs it.Like the film, "The Company Of Wolves" soundtrack is a highly underrated and overlooked gem worth seeking, possessing, and cherishing.

I'm so glad I invested my money into this cd. Ever since I saw the film back in 85' I just had to have it. It is chilling, moody, and quite beautiful. Not nearly has horrific as 'The Howling' but definitely one to own.
