The screen can be oriented as portrait or landscape to accommodate your work style, and the ink-to-text utility works with any Windows application. The keyboard can also quickly swing into place when typing is required. You'll also be able to keep working for extended periods, with up to 4.5 hours of battery power.

This TC1100 features a battery-sipping 1.2 GHz Intel Pentium M 753 Ultra Low Voltage processor, 60 GB hard drive, 512 MB of installed RAM (2 GB max), 54g wi-fi connectivity (802.11b/g), Bluetooth wireless connectivity, Secure Digital memory card slot, and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system.

The Basics

• Hard Drive: The 60 GB hard drive (5400 RPM) is a bit smaller than average for current notebooks, but it's in line with comparable Tablet PCs. It provides enough capacity for storing documents, digital media files, and productivity software.
  
• Processor: The Intel Pentium M Processor Ultra Low Voltage 753 (1.20 GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 400 MHz FSB) delivers outstanding mobile performance and low-power enhancements for sleeker, lighter notebook designs. The 1.2 GHz clock speed can be misleading--for most tasks, this processor will be faster than a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4-M. This older processor sits at the bottom of the current spectrum for this processor class (as of March 2006).
  
• Memory: The 512 MB of installed RAM (333 MHz) is enough to get you started, but you'll want to add more RAM to handle today's demanding multimedia and productivity suites. It has a 2 GB maximum RAM capacity.
  
• CD/DVD Drive: This Table PC does not come with an optical drive, but HP offers options of external DVD/CD reading and burning drives.
  
• Keyboard & Mouse: The 101-key compatible keyboard is 95% full-sized and it features isolated, inverted-T cursor control keys and right-control key. It also comes with a battery-free digital pen for writing on the Tablet PC's screen.

Screen, Graphics and Sound
The 10.4-inch color TFT XGA display has a 1024 x 768 resolution (with up to 16.7 million colors) and it will support an external display up to a 1600 x 1200 resolution. Video is powered by the Nvidia GeForce4 Go 420 graphics card with 32 MB of shared video memory. It features Nvidia's nfiniteFX II engine's programmable vertex and pixel shaders for advanced desktop graphics. The PowerMizer technology adjusts power resources for the CPU, LCD to effectively control system power consumption while maintaining great 3D graphics performance.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The TC1100 has an integrated 54g wireless LAN that's fully compatible with 802.11b/g wireless networks. With the Bluetooth wireless connectivity, you can synchronize and transfer files between the PC and peripherals such as cell phones and PDAs. You get a basic offering of connectivity options:

• 2 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
• 1 Secure Digital memory card slot (not compatible with SDIO)

This Tablet PC also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Fast Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).

Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 operating system with Service Pack 2 featuring Advanced Security Technologies, which helps to reduce unwanted downloads and pop-ups while surfing the Web.

Picked this up for some simple sketching. The TC1100 plus ArtRage 2.5 makes a great, cheap, and practical sketchbook for the aspiring digital artist. (Also great for the kids in the house! They love drawing on this thing!)
