Though you can't play the latest games or communicate wirelessly without first upgrading the unit, you should find it makes short work of virtually everything else.

Compaq has built the Presario 3080us around a fast yet cost-effective 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor and a generous 512 MB of 266 MHz Random Access Memory (upgradeable to 1024 MB). The system's graphics chipset, an SiS 650 UMA 4x AGP with 64 MB of shared (not dedicated) memory, will suffice for all 2-D and many 3-D tasks but may have trouble efficiently rendering the latest and most demanding 3-D animation and drawing packages and 3-D games.

Topping the unit's exciting list of features is its display screen, a 16-inch monster capable of super-clean 1024 by 768 resolution.
