It works.
It replaced the one we received with the laptop and powers the laptop and charged the battery. Couldn't really ask it to do anything else.

AC Power Adapter for Compaq Notebook Presario C500
Good buy for the price, however weather it is this one or a name brand seems to me that the quality of construction on said device is poor. I need to order a new one alost evey year, but this is cheeper then buying a whole new notebook/ laptop.

The quality of the product was poor. The product sent had a two prong plug unlike the original three prong charger which came with the computer. After only few weeks of use the female pins in the cord came out. I was told that they had received a bad shipment of cords, and I was sent a replacement cord. The new cord worked; however, the plug to the computer apparently had a short. I was so frustrated at that point I finally just gave up. The moral of the story: Don't waste your money.
