This review is from: Comparative Politics of the Third World: Linking Concepts and Cases (Paperback)
Comparative Politics of the Third World: Linking Concepts and Casesis a good book with a lot of information as the previous reviewer has indicated, however because it's 2007 printing, it needs to have a supplementry text or articles to update the area between were the book leaves off and modern day. However that glaring weakness accepted, this book does provide very good and detailed histories of the countries in the book : Iran, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey, Peru, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and maybe one or two more that escape me at the moment.
This book also provides detailed chapters on problems facing countries of the developing world like revolutions, political violence, pollution, globalization and it's impact on the developing world and other areas of conflict and/or concearn. Again, the book because of it's datedness fails to account for current events like the election protests in Iran or Uighar violence in China.

this book is very informative and is a perfect blend of the general and the ideosentricies of the politics of the developing world with enough small case studies to back up its assumptions, but the book has no clear structure. It also doesn't illistrate all of its conclusions clearly leaving the reader with a feeling of "okay, what the most important part of this section and how exactly does the evidence correlate with its conclusions?"
