Great idea, but misses the mark completely., March 25, 2008
This review is from: Comparative Skeletal Anatomy: A Photographic Atlas for Medical Examiners, Coroners, Forensic Anthropologists, and Archaeologists (Hardcover)
As an archaeologist I was excited to hear that finally someone was putting together a comprehensive comparative atlas on human and animal skeletal anatomy; however, when I finally received my copy I was completely and utterly disappointed. The authors have taken a good idea and failed on so many different levels. The biggest issue that I had, given the nature of its intent as a photographic atlas, is the photographs are of extremely poor quality. They are highly pixilated and they leave you squinting to ascertain any detail. Furthermore, the authors' use of a what appears to be a homemade scale and coin for scale is an extremely poor choice, leaving me wonder if this compilation was not some last minute weekend project. The authors fail to offer any real helpful explanations or details, further compounding its uselessness. Finally, the astonishing price that is being charged adds insult to injury. In conclusion, I would avoid purchasing this title. I am sending my copy back.
