Compartments was a different album in Jose Feliciano career, released in 1973 was influenced by some artists of that time in pop soul and soft rock music, from Elton John to James Taylor or motown artists. This difference from previous Jose Feliciano albums was signed by the first co-production with Steve Cropper and the appareance of Bill Withers (who played here and co-write with Jose the fantastic song "compartments" with an incredible guitar work by Jose) but also with Leon Russel, Jim Messina, Jim Seals & Dash Crofts. So Jose Feliciano here change all and the result is very good and different from the past, played many instruments and leave more space to electric guitar: his work on "I'm Leavin" in Santana style is simply fantastic and his "Simple Song" was deserve more accolade on charts
The album was released also in Quadradisc and reach at nr 156 on Billboard Top200 and at nr. 88 on Cashbox US chart

I have loved this record for years and finally it's out on CD! Every song on it is good, and true to Feliciano style, it has more than a few covers on it.

It's more of a pop/rock record than his usual bilingual Latin offerings and you can definitely hear a lot of Loggins/Messina influence, as they actually sing backup on a couple tunes and one of the songs was written by them ("Peace of Mind"). Steve Cropper produced this gem and his influence also pervades throughout. It's an all-star cast, really, with appearances by Seals and Crofts, Bill Withers, Leon Russell, etc., etc.

It's just a great, soulful record that spans funk, soul, blues, pop, and even a bit of rock. Highly, highly recommended for Feliciano fans and fans of good music.

I saw Jose Feliciano in concert a few months back, it was fun and took me back to the days of my vinyl collection. The stereo is not set up anymore One of those items that I'll wait a while to unpack Glad to have it
