3.0 out of 5 stars I'm satisfied, August 11, 2004

This review is from: Al Compas del Corazon (Audio CD)
Podestá is one of my favorite tango singers, because he's got a very expressive and full-sounding voice--not an operatic voice, which wouldn't be right for tango anyway. The recording/transfer isn't terrific, but it'll do for me. The timbres of the orchestra are fleshed out quite well, but the voice seems a bit muffled. But I still like it enough to be satisfied I bought it, because the songs are very good and so are the performances of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear, July 10, 2003
By
Michael Lavocah (Norwich, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Al Compas del Corazon (Audio CD)
Podestá recaps his hits with Miguel Caló and Carlos Di Sarli in a schmaltzy, nightclub style. This is undanceable, and the heavily filtered lp transfer makes Podestá sound as if he were singing through a handkerchief. Dreadful.
