After I was right-sized, down-sized, position eliminated, fired, left jobs on my own for supposed green pastures, worked at a company that closed, worked as a temporary employee on several assignments, took jobs not well-suited for me and eventually I found myself alone playing a game that I didn’t know the rules. After deciding that no one should go through job searching alone and unequipped like I did, I was committed to do something about it and become “the expert.” At 45 years old, I received my certificate as a Global Career Development Facilitator from the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. In the same year, I made my fourth attempt at my college degree and returned to Baker College. By attending college full-time and working full-time I completed my degree in Marketing in December 2003 and launched CHANGING DIRECTIONS in the same year. Just when I was gaining momentum, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Because of early detection, no chemo or radiation was necessary – only surgery and I have to take a pill for 5 years. I have been blessed. Regardless of how your situation may seem now, live each day to its fullest! Today is the day the Lord hast made – REJOICE and be glad in it! Wow, I am very impressed from an employer's perspective. If my next job applicant has read and understands this book - they've got a job! Ms. Twa deals with emotional roadblocks and personality style as underlying principles. Then goes on to tell the job seeker what it really takes to get a job.
