Brazilian Master Guitarrist in a splendorous collection. High artistry.,
By
This review is from: Compasso (Audio CD)
Creativeness, high inspiration, master command of his instrument, good taste. This is one more gem from the Brazilian master of guitar, Mr. Helio Delmiro. For those people who seeks for cross references, there goes a list of reference albums which had the Delmiro touch: all guitar on Elis Regina's 'Elis & Tom' is Delmiro's. He also shows up in Sarah Vaughan albums recorded in Brazil. Both must-have albums as are his sensational collaboration albums with Cesar Camargo Mariano and with Clare Fischer. This new album shows a collection of American and Brazilian standards all with original and sensitive arrangements within a small combo of guitar-keyboard-bass and drums. Features a beautiful 'My Favorite Things' (from 'The Sound of Music'), a delicious Cy Coleman's 'Witchcraft' and Thelonious Monk's 'Round Midnight'. Among the Brazilian tunes you'll find some Delmiro's own inspired material plus Antonio Carlos Jobim's 'O Morro Nao Tem Vez' and Edu Lobo's 'Ponteio' in a sensational conception. A must-have album of modern contemporary top Brazilian instrumental.
