5.0 out of 5 stars Clarification of the Title, December 4, 2005
This review is from: Compendium of Roman History / Res Gestae Divi Augusti (Loeb Classical Library, No. 152) (Hardcover)
The title may need some explanation. This Loeb volume contains two works:

1. The 2 book 'Roman Histories', a summary of Roman history from the fall of Troy to CE 29 by Velleius. Excellent information on the colonies and happenings from the death of Caesar (44 BCE) through the reign of Tiberius, c. 29 CE.

2. Res Gestae Divi Augusti, an account of his public life and work by the emperor Augustus.

While both works partly share a general timeframe, they are otherwise unconnected texts.

The Loeb edition is, as usual, excellent.
