5.0 out of 5 stars Arduin Grimoire is one of the best games out there, par none, October 23, 2006
This review is from: Compleat Arduin: Book One - The Rules (Paperback)
Mr. Hargrave was one of the finest writers of fantasy roleplaying games out there. Very few could be considered as creative, as thoughtful, as adventurous as he. Maybe he would stand alongside the old school gamers like Gary Gygax and G. Stafford (RuneQuest) and Richard Snider (Powers & Perils). Sadly, Mr. Hargave died before really continuing his story. BUT! His vision lives on. There are still many people out there who champion Arduin and the beauty it holds. I try to be one of them. Hargrave's work, as seen here in this first rulebook in a two part book set (but is now bound into one volume through Emperor's Choice Games which also sells all the other works of Hargrave and Hargrave inspired), is the kind that you work it your own way. Add a bit here, take a bit off here. Not a problem. Arduin is a universe that a lot can fit into without causing any problems. I would highly recommend you letting that D20 stuff collect dust so that you can enjoy the passion and power and majesty of Arduin!
