disappointed. I guess I expected more of a primer on the emotional impact of spanking, not a list of spanking instruments! All this is, literally, is a list of things one might grab to use to spank someone. My kindergarten students could have written it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine introduction to spanking, June 13, 2000
This review is from: The Compleat Spanker (Hardcover)
The Compleat Spanker is a thin little book... 12 chapters in 70 pages, plus four appendixes. It is surprisingly thorough despite the small size, and actually has solid coverage of many striking implements beyond the traditional hand-spank.

This is a well-written book. The text is tight, precise, and easy to read. Green claims an interest in spanking to be very widespread, and attempts to write a book that's approachable even without an acceptance of broader SM. Although I'm too steeped in BDSM culture to say for sure, I think she has succeeded.

The main body of Compleat Spanker is well organized, structured in the order a scene would progress: communication, warm-up, implements, positions, and afterwards. Position illustrations are minimalistic, inoffensive line drawings that compliment the text nicely. Overall, the contents are generally basic. As an experienced spanker, I didn't gain much new information from the book. The chapter Tips, Tricks, and Fun Things to Try was an exception, and I did find some new tidbits there. It was, however, a very fast and entertaining read.

Who should read the book? As implied above, an experienced spanker probably won't gain much beyond entertainment. For less experienced folks interested in spanking better, I doubt there is a better guide anywhere. Even if you don't want to have anything to do with SM, this book won't offend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Compleat Spanker, April 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Compleat Spanker (Hardcover)
The author, Lady Green, who admits early in the book that she is actually Catherine A. Liszt of Greenery Press, along with Dossie Easton, has written two other highly informative and popular books aimed at those dabbling with B & D or entirely into the scene and wishing to refine their skills, The Topping Book and The Bottoming Book. This primer on spanking is written from the point of view of the dominant, though I believe a submissive might also learn from it's contents. It covers the release of edorphins and enkaphalins into the bloodstream, a description of the human rear anatomy, how a dom(me) warms up a spankee, the use of the hand, the paddle, straps, the birch, floggers, canes, and crops, positions the bottom may be put into, troubles that may crop up, how to end a scene and how to nurture after the fact. Then she gets into ideas for scenes and things you might do during a scene, how to clean implements, how to combine bondage with spanking, and how to find others in the scene. As a dominatrix, I highly recommend this book.

This review is from: The Compleat Spanker (Hardcover)
An absolute must-read book for anyone interested in adult-to-adult spanking, either as a participant or simply curious. It's informative and easy to read for both spanker and spankee, wh ether the interest is erotic spanking, disciplinary, or just for fun.

Written for both those who do BDSM and those who simply enjoy spanking, this is a well-written and easily accessible book for both beginners and experted regardless of the side of the palm or paddle you like. Several issues covered are emotional reasons, physical safety, sexual desires, comfort for both spanker and spankee, as well as suggestions on how to incorporate spanking into your love life. It is not comprehensive nor will it make you a great spanker or spankee but it can give you good insights into issues you should consider before bending over or taking a whack at your partners butt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, November 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Compleat Spanker (Hardcover)
Now this book, compared to Screw the Roses give me the Thorns is great. A lot of information for novices and fun-seekers. Screw the Roses was boring and almost like a manual on how to build torture chambers. Definitely not the once in awhile romp into variety. This book is very informative, yet light hearted and humorous at times. I recommend this one for all beginners or just your average open-minded individual who likes some fantasy and fun.

i admit it, i love to be spanked ... hard, soft, standing, kneeling, spread, stretched, suspended ... whatever position, i adore my spankings. and i have so enjoyed this book for educating both my Partner and i on the many erotic ways to spank a woman. W/we share a deep satisfaction with every stroke, and the intimacy we share as His hand lightly plays across my behind in public is deeply gratifying to both of us

5.0 out of 5 stars Spanking Good Time!, April 9, 2000

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Compleat Spanker (Hardcover)
The author notes that this book is a "primer" on spanking and that possibly tens or even hundreds of thousands of people have experimented with some form of spanking, while not being interested in other forms of SM.

This book contains a lot of information in a small amount of space (86 pages). Included are sections on establishing a mood, warmup, why we enjoy spanking or being spanked, spanking "toys," and how to clean your spanking toys after use.

If you want to learn more about being a good spanker, this is a great place to start.
