The Best of the Good Honky Tonk Webb Pierce!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Complete 4star/pacemaker Recordings (Audio CD)
If you are a lover of good old honky-tonk from the 50's, this cd will not disappoint.
My husband and I love the old honky-tonk from the 50's, and it seems more and more nowdays most of the good stuff is on the Bear label. I bought this album for my husband's birthday, and we were both pleasantly suprised as this album was as good, if not better, than some of the honky-tonk out there on the Bear label. We especially loved "Saturday Night." Faron Young did his famous version, and we were pleased to hear Mr. Pierce do his own rendition, too. He changed some of the lyrics, and they are actually quite hilarious. Great album!

Early Webb Pierce,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Complete 4star/pacemaker Recordings (Audio CD)
Webb Pierce, being one of my favorite honk tonk singers, I just had to get this set. I wasn't disappointed. Some of the songs were nothing special but with Webb singing, took me back to the 50's. After a couple of listings I have found Drifting Texas Sand to be my favorite. His voice hasn't matured to the deeper nasal sound that became part of his signature.
