5.0 out of 5 stars Great for teaching letter sounds., March 1, 2005
I have used this book for the past 2 years with my preschool classes. The kids are learning the letters and sounds so easily and quickly. This book provides you with the necessary tools to teach to several different learning styles(visual, auditory and kinesthetic) at once. I also love how the kinesthetic cueing system focuses on the shape and movement of the mouth while forming the sound.
I would reccomend this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Revise the picture card....., January 8, 2007
This review is from: Complete Alphabet Learning Center Activities Kit (Paperback)
It has lots of good ideas for teaching the alphabets creatively. My only issue with it is the pictures chart. It's black and white, hand drawn and somewhat "noisy" - E.g. with the picture of the letter "Q q" - the little figure on top of the little q, I presume, must be a "queen" but to me looks like a bug; it took a minute to decipher the picture. haha..try telling your kid it's a queen. Just a little too much details for a learning disabled child. Perhaps just photos of a person making the letter sounds might communicate better.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, October 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Complete Alphabet Learning Center Activities Kit (Paperback)
I bought this book about five years ago when I started working with students in Kindergarten who were struggling with learning their letters and letter sounds. I only used one of the activities in the book (never had time to check out all the rest, but the one activity is worth the price of the book). They have a flashcard for each letter of the alphabet. One each card is the letter, a picture and a kinestetic clue. You basically makes these cards into a flip book on a keyring and go through everyday or several times a day. For example, when they see the A card with an apple on it and a sneezing person, they say A and touch the A, then they say Apple, and then they say the sound and make the motion for aahhchoo, as if they are sneezing, but they only say aahh.

So, I had students do each card quickly, three times each, so it sounded like this

A, Apple, Aahh

A, Apple, Aahh

A, Apple, Aahh

B, Balloon, B sound
B, Balloon, B sound

Anyways, kids loved it and they learned all the sounds really well. I now work with 6th grade struggling readers and use the vowel cards since these are the sounds they struggle with.
