I was excited about this book at first, the concept is great with the gentle blending of scientific thought with the metaphysical belief, however as I read the book I realized that it was seriously lacking on several levels. The biggest flaw of the book is it appears that Barry and Dustin slopped it out in about a week and neither they, nor the publisher, bothered to even throw the book at an editor. There are so many grammatical errors in the book it's painful to read. My 6th grade daughter could have done a better job of writing a book.
There are time when the authors also hint at information but then fail to elaborate. Examples of this include diet and it's link to paranormal phenomena. The book is also a paperback with the pages having 1 inch margins all around. It's such a weak production that I wonder if the authors didn't simply pay to publish it themselves.
Overall I think the book is a fast-and-nasty attempt to cash in a bit more on their popularity and is not a serious attempt at educating open minds about the paranormal. The book is confusing and lacking in so many levels that I would not recommend it. For what this book seeks to cover, there are far better sources on the market.

This is absolutely the worst book I have ever read from an editing standpoint. "Were" is spelled "where" in almost every instance in the book. One paragraph is printed twice. In another paragraph, the editor's notes are present. Any middle school newspaper editor could have done a better job editing. It makes it hard to take the information contained in the book and the authors seriously.

As to the content, there is some good information contained in the book. The authors repeat themselves them quite a bit, and are very vague on a number of topics. Anyone with a little common sense would know a lot of the information on talking with clients and the investigations.

There are also a couple of parts in the book where the authors imply that some people may be too stupid to ghost hunt, i.e. if someone is using a compass and gets lost he or she should put the compass in the drawer and give up ghost hunting.

This book is okay to supplement your collection, but if you are a beginner and looking for a book to help you get started, there are a quite a few books out there that would be better for you than this book.

The information contained in this book is quite simply invaluable for anyone trying to gather information on paranormal investigations, especially those pertaining to ghosts. The authors are both extremely experienced and knowledgeable in the field and uniquely mix scientific theory in with metaphysics to present what they are currently researching and trying to accomplish during investigations of haunted places. In fact, I would recommend this to be paired with something like Troy Taylor's "Ghost Hunter's Guidebook" for an almost complete ground floor for those looking into how to conduct paranormal investigations.

I enjoyed this book very much and found the concepts spoken of to be extremely interesting. Normally, I'd give this book 5 stars (yes, it is that good), but cannot due to the horrible publishing and editing. The authors' voices are present, but there were problems such as editing notes being printed and published within the text as well as huge grammatical errors. I'd offer to edit this book for free if it would do any good, as the impact of what is contained therein should not be lost due to what amounts to the worst editing job I've ever seen.

Excellent book. Covers the technical aspect of paranormal investigation. Gives expelinations reguarding the theories behind paranormal activity. Also covers different kinds of equipment that one uses during a paranormal investigation. If you are the tech manager for your team, get this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you can overlook the editorial errors . . ., August 1, 2010

Once I came to terms with the abundance of editorial errors in this book, I settled into it. I can tell the authors are very studied and passionate about sharing what they know about the paranormal and about investigating. I would love to see this information picked up and expanded into a longer text (by a different publisher).
