This is a great reprint of a great book, original in content, great in artwork, intelligent in writing. Looking for a standard "guy in tights" super hero book (keeping in mind, I love those books too...)? This ain't it, Larry. Looking for an original story line, full of quips, one liners, different takes, and martial arts mayhem? This is your baby.

A comic that quotes Kant can't be too shabby,

I had heard about this comic from a parent of one of my Middle School students. As an English teacher and massive comic nerd, I found The Badger Vol. 1 to be simply delightful. The semi-anti-super hero, his druid sorcerer boss, and a female quack make for an interesting trio. Humorous, exciting, and thought provoking. I highly recommend this trade to anyone who likes a good comic.

Welcome to the world of The Badger,

Some twenty years ago I came across one of the first colored issues of Nexus, the scifi comic book series by Baron and Rude. It featured a wacko who called himself The Badger and struck me as a strange mixture of other preexisting characters but not exempt of originality and worth considering. Afterwards I obtained (perhaps in a weekend sale market) an issue of his own series, art by Ron Lim maybe, and I renewed my affinity for such strange bloke. Anyhow, I forgot all about it as I stopped buying comics altogether, you know the story, other interests + scarce dough + not enough room. Recently I saw The Badger had been reedited in a complete booklet series so I tried, obviously through Amazon as such products are not precisely mainstream in Spain. It was a good idea. The price is good and the book arrived on time. The book itself is quite decent, good quality paper, color and binding. Regarding the important stuff, it contains a very interesting introduction by Baron himself (Thank Goodness) and I found inside more than I expected: just plain ol' good eighties super hero stories, with some original approaches to the characters, good art (not excellent, but good) and a hint of being ahead of its times. I specially liked the no nonsense who gives a s**t use of martial arts. I will buy the next tome and if it keeps the rhythm maybe the whole bunch. Cheerio.

Badger has been one of my favorite comics since the early 90's, I have the whole collection in plastic but now more than 20 years after it's debut you can read it in graphic novel format. The first vol. starts with Capital Comic's Badger #1 and continues the series as it became published by First Comics. If you want something fun and funny please give this series a try. Hard to find the original issues but easy to get now on Amazon.
