What's really great about this cd is that it contains all the songs Chris Connor recorded with Bethlehem records. This 2 cd collection includes all 12 tracks from "Chris Connor: All About Ronnie (The Bethlehem Recordings 1953-1955)" plus 23 additional tracks from "Chris Connor Sings Lullaby of Birdland", " Chris Connor Sings Lullaby for Lovers", "Chris" and "This Is Chris." The orchestration is excellent and Chris is at her vocal peak on every recording. It doesn't get better than this.

In late 1953 Chris Connor signed with Bethlehem records shortly after her stint with the Stan Kenton. From here she just took off. Her jazzy, mellow tones coupled with her sense of style and interpretation of the ballad lines and lyrics put Chris in demand. The entire collection is great from beginning to end and you will enjoy each song. Some of my favorites include: "Blue Silhouette", "Miser's Serenade", "Ask Me", "Chiquita from Chi-Wah-Wah", "Lullaby of Birdland", "Riding High" "All Dressed Up With A Broken Heart", "Trouble Is A Man", "From This Moment On", "I Concentrate On You", and "A Good Man Ia A Seldom Thing."

Of course there are too many tunes to name, however, the aforementioned is just the tip of the iceberg, and surely a treat for any Chris Connor fan and for those who like good music which for me means good lyrics, good orchestration, and the ability of the vocalist to take the listener to another place. Chris does this and more. Add her Bethlehem Recordings to your collection, you won't be sorry.
