Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

One baby hops in a suspended jumper and another relaxes in a swing while their moms help fitness instructor Becky Cortez demonstrate a 46-minute workout for new mothers. Cortez, herself the mother of four, includes a stretch warm-up, a 17-minute cardio workout, 12 minutes of toning and conditioning, an abs segment, and a cool-down stretch. While the cardio workout uses a step, one woman exercises without one. Cortez uses the current aerobic steps (Mamba, V-step, Charleston) and the pace provides a challenging post-partum workout from a few weeks after birth up until a few months. The toning segment uses an exercise band, and weights are demonstrated as well. In between segments, a heart rate chart appears on-screen when appropriate and Cortez waxes philosophic about the importance of exercise. The back cover of the video assures viewers that the trio assisting Cortez are mothers, not models, and, indeed, they are pleasantly real-looking women, albeit in terrific shape. One of the babies joins mom as Cortez explains how to do push-ups over the infants, another joins them for the cool-down segment, and all three babies make an appearance for the four-minute "baby play" at the end, which includes a little stretching and a little baby dancing. --Kimberly Heinrichs

1.0 out of 5 stars This workout does not include your baby!, October 29, 2002

I bought this video thinking that it would be a good way to exercise and entertain my baby at the same time. Big mistake! This video only includes a 4 minutes segment with the baby and it is lame! So, if you are looking for something fun to do with your baby, this is not it. Also, it involves a step portion so if you don't have a step then you will not be able to do the entire cardio portion. It also requires free weights or an xertube which you can get with a different version but I was not aware of this so I could not do the weight portion. All in all, I was extremely disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars I've gotten great results and feel great again!!!, April 19, 1999
By A Customer
As a new mom, I finally found a great way to start getting back into shape. This tape was easy to follow and easy to use. The other tapes I have already purchased don't even use real moms. I stayed motivated throughout the whole video and even though I hate working out, this tape made it fun. Becky really did a good job and I felt it important to tell you that.

1.0 out of 5 stars i'd give it zero stars if i could, this isn't worth my time, February 6, 2004
This review is from: Complete Body Workout for Mom and Baby - Postnatal Fitness (Bonus Set Including Xertube) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
i tried this to add soem variety to my post prego workouts, and i found it very disappointing....the workout really doesn't even include your baby, the bands are used, which are ok, but the whole concept of working out with your baby is exagerated here...i would save my money next time and skip this one.
