A Useful Name Book,
By
This review is from: The Complete Book of Baby Names: Traditional and Modern (Paperback)
This is a helpful name book to use as reference for all writers that
are writing medieval romance. A exceptional name book of old English, welsh and celtic names of medieval England. A highly recommended book for writers to keep on their reference keepers shelve.

I bought this book because not only did it list the origin of the name (Greek, for instance) but also what the name meant (Alice means "truth," for instance). Unfornately, the book does not give me a list of medieval names that have Anglo-Saxon orgins and if you search out a name (like Alice) it tells you Alicia is one of the variations, but not that that particular one is the medieval variation. It is simply one big, alphabetical list A-Z with a one-word what it means and a list of variations of the name. This would be okay for naming a baby but not a niche-market writer.
