5.0 out of 5 stars Concise and Precise
This book contains all the pertinent information on basic Chinese Astrology. Easy to read and reference, and perfect even for the busy executive. I have given this book as gifts to the most unlikely people - busy, male, no-nonsense executive types who have loved it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I am an avid follower of chinese horoscopes and found Lori Reid's book to be very disappointing. Not much depth to her work at all! Saying it is concise is being kind. For the serious reader, I'd recommend the Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes by Theodora Lau.

After purchasing this book and reading all about myself, I had to share this with my friends, who loved it! Its easy to understand, and I loved the tie in to the elements, and the little charts that described who love, friendship, and business matches. Great illustrations throughout. A fantastic book at a great price!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Did someone call you a Dog today?, January 29, 2006
Before you snarl, bare your teeth and assume your attack position, please note that January 29, 2006 is the first day of the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar, and that it runs until February 16, 2007.

If by chance, you were born between the following dates, then doggone it - they were right about you all along.

Dog years:

Jan 28, 1922 - Feb 15, 1923
Feb 14, 1934 - Feb 3, 1935
Feb 2, 1946 - Jan 21, 1947
Feb 18, 1958 - Feb 7, 1959
Feb 6, 1970 - Jan 26, 1971
Jan 25, 1982 - Feb 12, 1983
Feb 10, 1994 - Jan 30, 1995

If you're older than this you can have someone look it up for you, but if you're younger, you're not a part of this litter of pups.

This interesting book is a great starter course on Chinese horoscopes. It's simple and fun to read, with lots of pictures and charts. It has pages and pages of information for each personality - rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig - including your element (metal, water, wood, fire and earth); your health; career; wealth; likes and dislikes; parent/child relationships; love partners; a comparison with your Western zodiac sign and famous people born in your animal sequence.

I have learned, for example, that Arthur Miller, King Henry V, Orson Welles and Billie Holiday are my Rabbit kin, and that theoretically at least, my son and I are on the same wavelength.

This book is worth reading just for the entertainment value, and would make a great gift for each of your friends, to prevent them from borrowing yours for extended periods.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this book!!, January 10, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I first read this book when my friend introduced it to me many years ago. I was immediately addicted to it and was looking everywhere for my own copy. I was glad to be able to find it on Amazon and finally own my very own copy. This book has not only info about the love relationships of the signs, but also of the parent and child relations which is a big plus. The colored pictures and organization are all very nice and easy to follow with all of the charts and everything. Love it and highly recommend this book to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to read, October 27, 2011

I have had a few books about Chinese astrology but this one is one of the best.

I think it explains the way Chinese astrology works without confusing the reader, it's glossy and well written with plenty of beautiful illustrations. For each sign the author divided it into sections for the youth, parent, individual and child which makes it really unique.

The illustrations help make it fun and interesting and very pretty. Some of the other authors of these types of books don't put an effort into making the subject clear and understandable, but I was even complimented on this one which is one of the reasons I am giving it a 5 star rating. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right on the Mark!, December 4, 2007
In 33 years, I've read many books pertaining to this subject. I've never seen a book that is more true to the mark. I'm a wood tiger myself, and I must say Horses and Dogs are my best friends ever! I have three children a pig, a tiger, and a dragon. I'm married to a rat and this book is so accurate. So much in fact that my children have picked up on these revelations and they know who is most compatible with them. I've used this in working with teams of people professionally in order to play to everyone's strengths and weaknesses and I've been #1 in my chosen field every time! Get the book and pay whatever you have to!
