Review For The Artist,
By
This review is from: Complete Book of Cut Flower Care (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book for cut flower care! Drawing from life is important. So extending the life of cut flowers is essential. This book lists close to 250 types of plants! The contents include home care for all cut flowers/cut foliage/berries and ornamental fruit, retail care for all cut flowers, special care for orchids and tropical flowers, myths and facts, drying flowers, flower arranging, flower food and preservatives, refrigeration, water quality, a glossary, and more! This is a dictionary-style type of book. Plants are arranged alphabetically by their botanical genus name (EX: Agapanthus) followed by their common name (EX: African Lily). Each entry includes family name, botanical name, plant description, best time to buy, availability, vase life, special home care, trade care, and whether it is suitable or not suitable for drying. Includes artwork of the majority of plants listed which is an extra bonus for artists trying to learn to draw plants! The artwork is done in monochrome (black and white) and it resembles graphite pencil or watercolor. There are also a few color photographs of actual plants.
