Truly Complete,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Complete Book of Dog Care (Paperback)
Although this is an older book, it is indispensable if you want to be well-informed about your dog. Unlike many newer dog care books I've looked at, this one gives the in-depth detail a concerned dog owner wants. I've turned to it more times than I can count! It may not be the best choice if you just want a real general guide, but if you want a detailed, comprehensive dog care book, this is it!

The bible of dog care,

This review is from: The Complete Book of Dog Care (Paperback)
Years ago, I owned a training kennel. Canine health was a foremost consideration. This book still stands as the best and clearest source for those charged with a dog's care. It's not an instant fix you run to when blood is spurting. It requires that you read it and absorb what's inside rather than consult it only when the dog is in distress. It's not the most recent publication but, then again neither is Shakespeare the most up to date writer. If you believe Henry V's 'band of brothers' speech could ne better if he texted it to his troops, perhaps you should get you information from magazines at the checkout counter. This is a classic. Dog's have not changed since the 1950's. Their nutritional requirements have not changed nor have their diseases. I can recommend no better book for those who truly care for their dogs.

I think you should read this book cover-to-cover for greatest benefit. The indexing and organization are poor for referencing on an as-needed basis...making it fairly useless in an emergency situation.
