I homeschool my kids and this is a great workbook. I use it along with The Complete Book of Grammar and Punctuation. As we're about half way through the books, there is some overlap so you could probably just use one or the other. They have enough color and pictures to be interesting without being overbearing. The books have good explanation of each concept and then lots of practice pages so the kids can really get a good feel for each topic. Many workbooks just touch on a subject but do not provide enough daily assignments and then you have to supplement. This book is more than sufficient on its own. This would also be an excellent tool to use to help a child who is struggling in school. There is an answer key in the back. This is a nice thick substantial book.

'The Complete Book of...' line offers many great great workbooks. Some of the others we use are: Animals, Solar System, US History, Presidents and States, Dinosaurs, Science... just to name a few. They are great!

I've bought several of the "Complete Book" series and this one is particularly good. It covers all aspects of English from spelling and punctuation, reading comprehension, grammar, paragraph structure, writing, poetry and proofreading. It has colourful pictures throughout the book, which my children enjoy, and the exercises are challenging and varied. I live in Australia and tutor children after school. My pupils love these books as much as I do. We don't have anything like these books over here, and it's worth paying the international postage just to get hold of these beautiful American books.

This and other books in this series are really great and useful, even for the parents' education. The books are very well orgranized and very informative. Strongly suggest for educating children. It is great to have these publications to enhance the education of the children.

I bought it for my 9-year-old daughter and she liked it. I also bought additional copies for my Chinses friend's kids who are 8-10 year's old in China. They all thought the book is very helpful for the language learning. Thanks, Amazon.

As my title says, the book is good but I didn't realized it was intended for 3-4 grade - I wish that were reflected in the title or more prominently on the page. I was looking at the Amazon age range, which says "9-12". That should really probably be about 8-10 yrs. My son is 12 so it's really not the right level for him. I could probably even do some of it with my soon-to-be-second grader if he needed it.

I also got the Grammar & Punctuation version of this book, and same story. So now I have two books that I really can't use.

This book has been a great supplemental English language and arts book for my daughter who is 4th grade. It has also been a great tool for me in helping her with her English language homework.
