5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive listing
This is a comprehensive listing of both natural foods i.e. flour, apple, string beans and manufactured foods i.e. canned chili, frozen dinners which provides not only calories but carbohydrates, fat, protein, cholesterol, sodium and fiber, You can find it all in this book and keep track of exactly what you are eating. It is an invaluable resource.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good...
I bought this book thinking it would be a great calorie counting book. It's not. It's hard to find generic food types unless you eat all frozen, canned, prepared, or certain restaurant foods and never make your own. I live in the midwest and most of my familiar places to eat aren't even in the book. Calorie King is a better book by far.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK FOR TRACKING WEIGHT WATCHER POINTS, November 16, 2009

I belong to Weight Watchers. I recently reached GOAL. This book of Food Counts has been immensely helpful in figuring out the points for certain foods. Even if you're not doing Weight Watchers (which I strongly recommend) this book will enable you to know what foods are helpful to you in losing weight. Good luck and enjoy this wonderful, helpful book. I buy a new book every time a new edition comes out.

This book has all the calories listed in alphabetical order, much better than categories. It's easy to find what you want and not frustrating.
Got here in good shape and faster than a speeding bullet. Thanks

My husband's endocrinologist gave us with this book. It contains a wide range of foods with an amount ("2 slices" or "1oz") and gives number of calories for that quantity of food. It then breaks down that food item into grams of prot, carb, fat, chol, sodium. It's a no-frills book that tells me exactly what I want to know (ie calories). No book out their can be all-inclusive, but this book still provides enough info to allow us to infer or guesstimate calories in a food item not specifically listed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A HUGE HELP!!!, February 3, 2010

My father had congestive heart failure last year and he is a diabetic. Not only does he have to watch his salt intake, water intake and sugar, he is trying to lose weight as well. He is now able to chart his calories, sodium, fat and so much more with this book. There are several fast food restaurants in here if you have to eat on the go. A wonderful book that is easy to use. I used to have the 4th edition and loved it so I upgraded to the most recent edition and I am thrilled. No complaints, I highly recommend this book.

Last night, I tried to find how many carbs were in plain, hot-air popped popcorn. It was impossible. Everything is a namebrand and I make most of my food from scratch. I couldn't even tell which brand name would be close. Even bananas are listed by brand-name. I wouldn't mind if the information was listed for just staples, too. Still a good book if you don't mind the frustration of searching and trying to figure out which product name would match your needs. Simpler would be better.

As a diabetic, it is important to know how many carbohydrates are contained in the foods I eat. I bad a 4th edition of Netzer's Complete Book of Food Counts. I learned that there was an 8th edition. This book not only lists foods sepsrstely but also lists major fast food and restaurants. It is simple to calculate my food content.
