This review is from: The Complete Book of Judo (Paperback)
A mediocre effort at best. This book is now dated. It is not a reliable reference on either modern sport judo or traditional Kodokan judo. It purports to be a reference work on the Go kyo (40 basic throws) and basic katame waza. It is mostly accurate but contains a number of errors. In some cases variations are presented as the standard forms. In others the demonstrations and/or descriptions are outright erroneous.
The author espouses some exotic ideas about holistic training and includes a lengthy section on Yoga. While not necessarily harmful, these are neither in accordance with modern physical education and oddly combines Indian and Japanese traditional disciplines in a single volume.
There are better books on both Judo and Yoga. Kodokan Judo by Jigoro Kano covers the same material much more reliably.
