This book is correctly titled The COMPLETE book of Maps and Geography. As a homeschool mom I was looking for something that would cover what my 3rd graders need to know with regards to Geography. This will do it, from the compass rose and map symbols to state geography and then world geography. Looking through this book brings back many memories of grade school for me and things I have forgotten over the years. It will certainly make my job easier. The activities are very hands on and engaging. There is no getting bored with this book. I can't wait to start using it. As a previous reviewer said you could easily make this book last for 2 years, making it even more of a value than it already is. Homeschool curriculum is so expensive and this is a great find.

The 3rd - 6th grade suggestion is right on but it can easily be used with younger students as well. GREAT resource for homeschool parents to introduce and teach map reading as well as basic world geography. The 6 sections included are: Introduction to Maps and Map Skills, United States Geography, United States Regions (states are covered individually by region), North and South America (Canada, Mexico, and South America are covered), Grid Maps, and Global Geography.

I have my fifth grade daughter working on this workbook. It covers everything from how to read maps, to the United States of America, to the continents and countries around the world. It's very colorful, and my daughter doesn't mind working on it, which is a lot say about a maps and geography book.

I picked this book up in our local homeschool consignment store (for $2!), thinking it looked like a good source of formal geography for my son. He was just starting 3rd grade studies at that time. I've been so pleasantly surprised at just how thorough the lessons are. The book is loaded with geography and map skills. It's very detailed, and the lessons are (usually) quick, fun, and can be independently done (a homeschool mom's dream!). My son usually takes 10-15 minutes to finish a page (each page is a lesson). He does a page per day, most days of the week. He's in 4th grade now, and in 1-1/2 years, he's worked through about 2/3 of the book. It's an inch thick! It will last us well into his 5th grade year, and provides a solid foundation in geography to build upon. There is an answer key in the back.

I didn't know what to expect prior to receiving this book. I have been pleased with the variety of activities and content provided. Our kindergartener even asks to do the activities with his older brother.

I am homeschooling my son and we love this book. It starts with third grade at each section then gets harder. The pages are bright and graphics are great, he loved to work on this book and it was easy for him to understand and he learned a lot.

I am using this to teach a group of learning disabled children about maps and geography. There was no curriculum available and this book just fit the bill. Now the children are talking about what direction they are going when they leave the room or exactly where their house is in relation to the school location. Very good purchase.

This book has many great maps, especially of the United States. Unfortunately, once you get beyond our dear country, the maps are not as detailed or as numerous. I understand having more maps of our homeland, but I needed more maps of Europe and Asia, and there were little to no options. I'm disappointed. I'm sure we'll use this book, but it isn't what I was hoping for at all.

We recently purchased this for our 5 year old kindergartener. They do not cover a lot of information about geography in his classroom so we bought some materials to supplement this topic at home. This book offers basic concept worksheets to fairly advanced concept worksheets. He will definitely not be able to complete all of these as a kindergartener. We got this workbook last week and he has completed about 10 pages. He loves the activities, which have included making his own floor plan, coloring the map keys, and drawing simple maps. He is excited about the worksheets and sees them as fun rather than as homework. I would highly recommend this book for all parents who want to add learning activities at home. One item I noticed from the activities we have completed and flipping through the book is that the geography is centered more on the US rather than global geography but we bought another book that will help cover this area. Overall, this is a great purchase!! Happy learning!!
