5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Italian cookbook, April 7, 2010

This review is from: The Complete Book of Pasta
We were given this cookbook as a Christmas present in 1977, at which time we were living in Italy. My husbands brother sent it to us. It became my favorite cookbook. A friend, who was married at the beginning of March, told me that her fiance loved Italian food, so I promised to find this book and give it to her for a Shower gift. The book didn't arrive in time for the Shower, but she was thrilled to receive it. My son has the paperback edition.
The recipes are authentic, lots of great explanations, written by an author who stays true to REAL Italian cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Italian Recipes, January 30, 2000
This review is from: The Complete Book of Pasta (Paperback)
I got this book with my first pasta machine over 20 years ago. Making your own fresh pasta is certainly rewarding, but since the book was published decent "fresh" pasta is easily available in most stores. Whether you make your own or let others create the pasta, this book contains hundreds of great basic, as well as exotic Italian Recipes from basic tomato sauce to stewed coot with linguine (duck may be substituted). I went on line to look for this book because I need to replace my 1968 softcover edition which is well-yellowed and on its last legs. The publisher should consider reissuing this classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic, July 21, 2008
My husband and I got this book about 39 years ago--we are still making a few recipes from it. It is a surprisingly modern cook book--talking about the shapes and sizes of the pasta--great variety of sauces.
The "Vongolette all Giardiniere" became a family favorite--and now my 26 year old daughter is making it--without the cookbook--just from having seen us throw it together so many times.
