Clarke and Toogood's, 'The Complete Book of Plant Propagation is one among many in this field. Plant propagation is perhaps the most relevant issue for gardening/horticulture aficionados. The information is clear, with relevant illustrations, without embellishments of any kind. Is the most informative book on this subject I have seen anywhere. If you need a book covering all the aspects of plant propagation with a reasonable price, get it. If will provide years of pleasure.

This review is from: The Complete Book of Plant Propagation (Paperback)
Whether or not I qualify as an expert, I am an experienced gardener with a penchant to fool around with plant propagation techniques. I got this book first from the library, then decided to purchase it for myself because of the broad spectrum of propagation techniques covered, including a brief history, accuracy of detail, the clarity of writing, the presence of a an extensive index to individual plant propagation methods, and the many pictures. Most of the pictures are drawings that illustrate the procedures described in the text. Very few are gratuitous "isn't this pretty?" pictures. For someone beginning, this book is a must! Not that the same material could not be found elsewhere, but here it is organized and presently concisely. For those of us who already have our fingernails dirty, I recommend this book for the same reasons: conciseness, completeness, and clarity.
