I'm thrilled with my purchase of "The Complete Book of Science". It is very comprehensive, with excellent, colour pictures to brighten the book up for young students, and also to clarify the lessons. The topics are clearly explained at the right level for the Grade 5-6 age group. The worksheets are also excellent, and fun to do.

I live in Australia, but I buy most of my educational books from America, because they are of a far higher quality than those that we can get "Down Under". I have home-schooled my son using American books, and as a tutor, I also use them to teach my private students.

I would recommend "The Complete Book" series to anyone, and in particular this science edition.

I was looking for a science workbook that: provided a lot of hands on activities, quality worksheets, and covered a variety of age appropriate science topics. This book provided exactly that. If you are looking for a textbook, then this is not for you, but if you are looking for a good scope and sequence for a 5th/6th grade science curriculum, and want quality information and worksheets that springboard into opportunities to learn more about the topics through additional resources (library books,) then this is absolutely worth every penny. I love it, it is exactly what I was looking for.

I have used this series (Complete Book)for years. I must say this book is so minimal. Lacking on information on each subject, just a bunch of fill in charts without descriptions. Good as a reference, but is you want this as a science book--keep looking.

This is a beautifully done workbook! We have only just started using it as part of our homeschool curriculum, but so far I really like the variety of worksheets & the high quality of the diagrams, drawings, etc.

As others have noted, this is a book full of WORKSHEETS - it does NOT contain lessons and information, but rather is intended to be used for review or testing, or after teaching with a textbook or other resources.

I found this to be a great addition to my science curriculum. It has good pictures and diagrams, condensed information, and some interesting experiments. I teach in Texas where testing is everything, and think this book will help my students be even more successful.

The book should have more explanation of the subject instead of constantly asking children to do exercise that he/she have no idea.

This is a great stand a lone book for homeschooling families. It is affordable and full of great information. I did add to it by visiting websites and the library.

This is an excellent source for science review which highlights key items for science at grade level.

I am a Homeschooling Mom, and am teaching my 5th grade son this year. I love the book, but my main complaint is that it dives right into the worksheets, with little or no preamble about the subject. The student is expected to know (for example) the names for all the organs in the digestive system, and be able to label them.

I find myself having to go to various websites on the Internet and begin our lessons there, then go to the workbook. If I'd realized that I'd have to do that, I may not have purchased the book.

We do love the experiments, and as I said, it's a GREAT supplement.......

This book is cool. It starts off basic and picks up. Your child will learn a lot you will too.
