I just purchased this book today and I have completed my first bear just moments ago. The book is very informative, has step by step instructions, and quality pictures for guidance. This is great for beginners and the experienced as well! It also gives you great tips on how to give your bears unique personalities. A++++

This book contains a wealth of information for even the advanced bear artist. Whenever I need to refer to a basic pattern flow or vary the look of the bear, I always use this book. I recommend this book to anyone interested in designing your own bear with a little help from an excellent author.

I keep this book propped up by my sewing machine. This book takes you through each step. From buying supplies & materials to finishing your bear, and patterns for clothes. The pictures are clear and accurate, and there are lots of them, great if you want the visual on how to as well. The instructions are eaasy to follow, with lots of tips. This is my main reference book.

I think this book is a must for any teddy bear artist - but especially appropriate for those who are beginning, like myself. It is easy to follow and very well illustrated. I look very forward to finishing up my first teddy bear! This book has illustrations of bears created by many of today's top bear artists as well. Very inspiring.

Having made teddy bears as a hobby for several years, I wish this book had been available when I was first struggling through my first teddy bear pattern. This book explains it all! It is an excellent introduction to the world of teddy bears, both for those who wish to use the patterns provided and for those who wish to create their own designs.

Great resource for all beginners and the experienced

I just received this book yesterday and have not been able to put it down! I am just embarking upon the creating of mohair teddy bears and have already read and referenced several books plus all the online sites on the subject but this book is the MUST HAVE! It covers e-v-e-r-y aspect of teddy bear creating from fabric selection, joints, faces, stuffing, sewing, creating, painting, making teddy bear clothes, creating those adorable miniature teddy bears and it even covers if you wish to create your own patterns to make your own signature bears; and that's just the tip of the iceburg folks! Plus it has pattern templates to start creating!
This book is very, very well written with concise instructions and information PLUS tons of photos so you don't miss a step. I can't say enough good things about this book and I kept putting off the purchase of it due to the price but if I found it cheaper anywhere else it would sell right away and I would miss out. So don't put if off like I did, just buy the book - you'll be glad you did as it is worth every penny spent.

This was the best book I have come across to learn how to make teddy bears. It has lots of detailed pictures explaining each process. The book also shows you how to make basic clothing pieces and there are a few patterns that you can use to make the bears. I was really impressed with the amount of information in this book. I found it at my local library first but needed to keep it longer so I was so happy to find it on Amazon.

i bought this book for a friend in canada.. not only did she receive it in record time (it was shipped the day it was ordered) but it was packaged so neatly and securely protected from rain etc. she has told me it was in great condition, better even than described here (it was used from a library) and the contents superb !! she is enjoying making her teddy bears, which are explained simply and clearly with many lovely illustrations. this is the bible of its kind, by far superior to any of the others she has seen (and there were many she has tried) and she is more than happy with it.. more like ecstatic !! we recommend this product and this seller with the highest regard .. i think you will be more that pleased with it. enjoy!

I bought this book for my 11 year old daughter, who made a doll from another book by Alicia Merrett, and decided to try her hand at teddy-bear-making. My daughter had good hand-sewing skills, but limited machine experience. Although this book is not written for children, Ms. Merrett is so clear in her instruction, that my daughter was able to read and understand each step of the instructions. She has made numerous bears - and every one has turned out beautifully! The book gives detailed instructions with pictures of each step for designing your bear, selecting the right pattern pieces, re-sizing the patterns, selecting materials, sculpting the head, sewing the body and limbs, stuffing the bear, installing all types of joints, etc. It also includes tips for sewing foot and paw pads, tips for making the face personal, many pictures and ideas for dressing your bear, and much, much more. My daughter has made many bears of many different styles, fabrics and sizes, all from this one book, and each one is a unique creation of her own. This was one of the best books we have ever purchased.
