For anyone who who loves to listen to the lyrics as well as the music
this recording cannot be surpassed - you really think you are listening
to a great harmonic group with musical backing.

A great pity more recordings like this were not made available.

I will never get tired of listening to all the various colors and shades of sounds
these talented people portray.

It goes without saying that The Singers Unlimited is a group of perfectionist. They have the ability to make complex vocal harmony blend so beautifully and seemingly without any exertion of effort. This CD is definitely a must for vocal enthusiast.

Since the 1970's, when the Singers Unlimited recorded with Oscar Peterson, I have loved this group. The A Capella numbers on this 2 disc album are great for background music, but they rate better as foreground listening. Highly recommended.

If you like four part harmony then you will like this. Singers unlimited are the best at what they do. They rival Manhattan Transfer they just arent as well known. Bonnie Herman is excellent as are the arrangements by Gene Puerling. A good cd to buy for the lovers of good group singing.

Plentiful of greatest vocal harmony and voices are collected in 2-CD set. When listening to the harmony of music like a symphony, the music will take you to the cozy corner and immerse you heart-warming. You can spend your confortable time for full time. This is a must have item whoever loves music.

If you like great voices, tight harmony, and A Capella singing, then this is for you.

These vocal arrangements are much more than the 'elevator music' another reviewer has described them as - but be warned, they are not the complete Singers Unlimited a capella recordings. What they are are the three a capella albums that the SU recorded for MPS in the 1970s.

The earlier a capella Christmas album is not included. Nor are the four a capella tracks included on the 'Four Of Us' album ('It Could Happen To You', 'Where Is Love', 'Jennifer's Rabbit' & 'Snowfall) or 'Lullaby Of Birdland' from the 'Easy To Love' album.

Once you've heard what is included here you'll probably want what's missing too - just like I did. And once you buy the other albums to get it, you'll probably want all the SU albums, like I did. So you end up buying 'Magic Voices' the truly complete SU recordings (except for the Christmas album).

You might want to consider going straight for 'Magic Voices' to avoid this duplication but that's probably unrealistic if you've only just started listening to them. I hope you enjoy the process of discovery as much as I have.

This is the greatest collection from one of the greatest vocal groups ever. Old school 4 people on 4-track over-dub with fat jazz chords and incredible blend. The best ever!!!

A brilliant 2-CD offering of all the a cappella recordings by The Singers Unlimited, my favourite jazz vocal group. The arrangements of Gene Puerling are top-class. Has there ever been a more versatile singer in such a group as Bonnie Herman - I doubt it.

The arrangements were by Gene Puerling, and that means the incomparable Hi-Lo's. But the Singers Unlimited cannot touch the Hi-Lo's, either in vocal prowess, intricacy, or beauty. The lead singer here is a young woman with a not outstanding voice. Worse the entire group is recorded in what appears to be an echo chamber. I think that the producers were trying to make a hit with a sound similar to Carpenters, and it didn't come off.

There are some beautiful pieces, to be sure, including "Our Love Is Here To Stay," "Autumn in New York," and "All The Things You Are" Puerling couldn't miss with such jewels. But the discs also include some much lesser works with an emphasis on sales.

This is, on the whole, pleasant and sometimes demanding music. But it should have been better.
