Not bad, but not great,

This review is from: Complete CardioKickboxing (Paperback)
Although this book has quite a bit of useful information. It lacks organization and cohesiveness. Mr. Seabourne jumps around a lot, and in the end there is no natural flow to the information he provides. I think this book would have been more effective, if the chapters were as follows: introduction, punches, kicks, combination, stretching (pre- and post-workout), shadow boxing and/or heavy bag work, conditioning drills, and workout plans. Most of this information was covered, but it was scattered, confusing, and sometimes, incomplete. Furthermore, his suggested workouts are weak. My overall impression of this book is that it is rather "girlie." If you are looking for a really good book on the subject, check out "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Kickboxing."

Complete Cardiokickboxing blends martial arts with fitness basics to provide an injury free program to improve stamina and help users get in shape. From non-impact workouts which help prevent injuries to the correct methods for punching, kicking, blocking and footwork, this blends routines with advice on meditations to increase energy and mind/body interactions. Black and white photos abound with examples.

Everything I needed to know about cardio kickboxing,
By Jack Perry (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Complete CardioKickboxing (Paperback)
Complete Cardiokickboxing is the most complete fitness book on the topic of punching and kicking to music available. I was able to use Seaborne's suggestions and develop my own program. I tried some of the videos out there but they were too difficult. I especially liked all of the tips and different training techniques. |
