I eared Slam Stewart several years ago on a cassette a friend had done for me. It was a performance done with Major Holley. I didn't know Holley (I just eared Mule at some point but no more) and just had Slam Stewart as info. I searched for long time anything about Slam Stewart with no success. And then, I discovered this album. At first, I tought it was the same thing on the cassette because I was in presence of a duet. I concluded the duet I earded was Slam and Slim. I was wrong but Slam and Slim is a great discovery. I have, by now, a very good idea of what preceded Slam and Major I finally found on "Shut Yo' Mouth" at the very same time as the Complete Colombia Master Takes album. The later is a very original and precise reproduction of what was the trend set by Slam Stewart and Slim Gaillard. I'm glad to discover this duet and then, have a good protrait of this great colorfull and innovative musician.

I'm glad I found this CD set on Amazon. Years ago I bought several LP records on the Tax label from Sweden. When I saw this set on Definitive, I was skeptical, but I took a chance. These recordings have decent sound for 1930s recordings. For those of us who are familiar with 78 rpm records (I love playing mine!) this set is no problem. There is surface noise, but it is not intrusive. In fact, I really enjoy the sound! My Dad turned me on to this music when I was four years old. I'm 65 now, and my Dad wasn't wrong by any means. Buy this set and do 'The Flat Foot Floogie'!

I can't easily find anyone who has this album in my country. So I bought it from the far.
It is satisfactory. This album has a variety of songs that i wanna swing(dance) with it.
