If you are a fan of '70s "underground" comedy groups such as The Firesign Theatre, The Credibility Gap, Cheech & Chong and Congress Of Wonders, this 2 CD set of virtually everything The Conception Corporation ever recorded will be a welcome addition to your collection. As with most counterculture humor of the '70s, some of the material has not aged well (especially the bits that rely heavily on drug references), and there are cultural references sprinkled throughout the material that will send many to Wikipedia for background information. The best bits are the social satires, such as the game show send-up "Black For A Day," the core premises of which still ring true today. The unreleased material contained in this two-CD set is not as strong as their two officially released albums ("A Pause In The Disaster" and "Conceptionland") but some of these bits have their moments of inspired lunacy and help round out the collection. A good deal of time and effort was put into the liner notes as well; they contain thorough background information about how they got together, the difficulties encountered in getting their records made on shoestring budgets, and what they all went on to accomplish in their individual careers since the group dissolved. All in all, well worth the price of admission.

Well worth it to pick up a 70's classic.

The Disease Broker, "selling" an untaken celebrity PSA disease (think Jerry Lewis' work to promote awareness of MD) to up-and-coming singer Rick Fortune is an example. Every celebrity needs a disease to promote...

As you later hear Rick's new PSA: "you may have this dreaded disease and not even know it...here are the 7 deadly early warning signs - itching, redness, ...". I still tear up with laughter. Question for you: what is the "disease" that Rick is now the spokesman for...? Enjoy!

And if any of the original 4 guys ever read this - guys, you were great! I've played this album over the years for lots of friends. Thanks for sharing your wicked sense(s) of humor!
