This review is from: The Complete Concordance to Aleister Crowley's The Book of the Law (Liber AL vel Legis) (Paperback)
This nifty little book is a complete concordinance of Crowley's Liber Al Vel Legis, listing in alphabetical order every word and where it was used, by chapter, verse and page. It will be of great interest to serious students of Thelema, and of little interest to anyone else: It assumes that one is already familiar with and owns a copy of The Book Of The Law, and begins with dozens of intersting observations about what words are used in what chapter, and with what frequency, matters which may be of insight, and which may be mere coincidence instead of synchronicity. I was very suprised that the Qabbalistic enumerations for many of the words (an important point) were not included.

One other thing, it's probably overpriced. While not "indespensible" it's certainly interesting to any student of Crowley.

3.0 out of 5 stars Handy "Concordance" to The Book of The Law -- Thelemic, June 8, 2003
This review is from: The Complete Concordance to Aleister Crowley's The Book of the Law (Liber AL vel Legis) (Paperback)
This handy Concordance to "The Book of The Law" -- a Thelemic "Holy Book" -- which was written by Aleister Crowley (possibly through "automatic writing" or, perhaps, by channeling an entity named "Aiwas"--which may, or may not be Crowley's "Holy Guardian Angel") is, basically, a thin book which lists numerous Words and where they fall in "The Book of The Law."

This concordance to "The Book of The Law" has a few pages of introduction, then a "concordance" for all those individuals who ignore "The Comment" and delve into the Qabbalistic aspects of TBoTL.

"The Comment" published with "The Book of The Law" was an injunction to not study "The Book of The Law"--which is over-all a method of preventing the possibility of a system of religious figures (Preachers, Priests, Ministers, etc.) from espousing a particular denomination / slant of "Thelema" and trying to monopolize the system (as we see in nearly all major religions in the world).
However, for all practical purposes "The Comment" has been given a polite nod of respect and those with common sense do not actually burn their copy of "The Book of The Law" after one reading.
Most "Thelemites" are Qabbalists and study the Numerology of words, phrases, etc. --therefore, the author of this "Concordance" has provided a breakdown of the words used in TBoTL and gives Thelemites a head-start on analyzing the intricacies of the Qabbalistic aspects of the "Holy Book."

The definition of "Concordance" : "an index of the words in a text or texts, showing every context in which they occur."

This is a useful book for Thelemic Qabbalists.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless to Everyone, August 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Complete Concordance to Aleister Crowley's The Book of the Law (Liber AL vel Legis) (Paperback)
This is an incomprehensible book that makes a coy and embarrassing attempt to distance itself from the Kabbalah, even though that is it's only possible explanation or reason for existence. Unless you have some sort of psychic connection to the author, this book will be useless to even an accomplished student of Kabbalistic interpretation since the author apparently has his own ideas on the subject which he chooses to keep to himself and leaves the reader to flounder in a sea of pseudo-magick word counting. It is a sterile abomination that brings no illumination to Crowley's masterpiece. Just another hack author trying to cash-in on The Master's name. A waste of pulp and ink.
