5.0 out of 5 stars The best introduction to FM synthesis, January 4, 2012
This review is from: The Complete DX7 (Paperback)
The Yamaha DX7, and FM synthesis in general, are renowned for their daunting learning curve in getting past the presets and actually designing sounds from scratch. This book assumes no special knowledge, and walks the reader step by step through navigating the DX7 interface and programming sounds from the ground up. I've wanted to get my head around FM synthesis for years, and while it's still an area that takes lots of study and experimentation to master, this book is what really got FM to click for me.

It's truly a shame this book is out of print and so difficult to find, especially given the resurgence of FM by way of software synthesis over the past several years.
