5.0 out of 5 stars Meant for a classroom but good for home use

3.0 out of 5 stars Theme selections were lacking
This book was ok. It does have some good activities. However, in my preschool classroom I use a weekly or bi-weekly theme. The types of themes I have are intended to give my preschoolers some background knowledge by really immersing them in the theme. I have themes like community helpers, the ocean, dinosaurs, insects, etc. I really didn't get much of that from this...

I wanted some material to use at home to supplement what my kids (both 3.5) are learning at their highly structured daycare. This book is designed for a classroom use but there is a lot in it that can be used with one or two kids at home with some modifications. You don't have to make flannel board pieces for instance, I copied the patterns and just colored them and used them on the floor, the kids got as much out of them. There are some of the exercises that aren't doable without 6 kids or so but there is enough in the book to justify the cost. I spent more than this on those monthly installments from that one club that sends a workbook every month, this book is a lot more useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my Go-To book for everything!, December 3, 2006
This review is from: The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles (Paperback)
I love this book. I purchased it two years ago when teaching at a church-based preschool. Now, only 4 months away from graduating with my degree in Early Childhood, this book has been a lifesaver. I love the different uses of a particular theme, and how using different approaches will successfully reach children who use different learning skills. My book came apart a long time ago - I simply used a three hole punch and a binder to restore it. This method makes copying much simpler, since there are so many patterns included in the book. It's a GREAT buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Early Childhood Programming Book You Need To Buy!, January 6, 2008
This review is from: The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles (Paperback)
I have taught five and six year olds for years. This year I'll be working with four year olds. I bought about a dozen books to help with my programming but this really is the only book I needed to buy. It's FANTASTIC! It tells you what to do for morning circle, story ideas, music and movement ideas, a range of learning centres that cater for the preferred learning styles of the children and then ideas for reflection in the closing circle. It does all this on hundreds of themes and then gives assessment ideas too. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Better of Schiller's Two "COMPLETE" Books, September 4, 2004

This book will sound and read like THE COMPLETE RESOURCE BOOK, but it contains a much better set of activities with relative connection to each other. Check out both books by Pam Schiller. Try both of them if you wish because you could pull activities from both of them; however, you probably will only find yourself needing to by one of these two nice books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Theme selections were lacking, August 22, 2009
This review is from: The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles (Paperback)
I really didn't get much of that from this book. Some of the themes aren't applicable such as "Sing me a song" (we do songs all year long), "things that go together," and "opposites." All of these are more easily integrated into other thematic units than stand out in their own unit.
There are some good activities in this book, and it may be useful in some ways. It was not what I needed however.

3.0 out of 5 stars not happy, August 14, 2009
This review is from: The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles (Paperback)
I'm really not happy with the book. First off, I don't like the way it's laid out. You have to go to the back for the songs or for the flannel board patterns instead of them being with the theme. I also find that there aren't enough themes or maybe I should I say challeging enough theme. This is more suited to the 2-3 year old group not the 4-5 year old group. This book has all the themes for colors, shapes and basic holidays, but it was not what I was looking for. I was looking for a complete curriculum for preschoolers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must have for preschool classrooms!!!, July 7, 2008
This review is from: The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles (Paperback)
I absolutely LOVE this book!! It is the best preschool curriculum book that I have gotten in recent history... I refer to it so often that almost each page has a post-it with notes attached!

The book is great because it offers something unique: It is organized by Learning Style/ Multiple Intelligences which highlights how young children learn and adopt skills for everyday!

The Complete Daily curriculum offers ideas for many different themes in enough detail that you can easily see how children will learn from it and what skills it will promote- the majority of the activities are also inexpensive and simple in procedure and materials to fit small budgets as well. The Appendices are also thorough with stories, songs, templates for games, learning centers, patterns and recipes and even a section explaining Multiple Intelligences and a sample letter to provide for parents!

This book is definitely a must have for preschool classrooms!!

I have a 7 year old that I homeschool and was looking for something for my 3 year old. I have been so pleased with this purchase. Both my 7 and 3 year old have so much fun doing the activities that I ordered a copy for a friend. Her and her family are also having a blast with the book. Every one with small children should have a copy of this book on hand. I wish I'd had it years ago!
