Since I could not find any indepth reviews on this particular product BEFORE purchasing it, then it stands to reason that I should be the first to do so. (thanks guys!)

Anyway, I was actually looking for the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK music for the first thee "Dollars Trilogy" films in it's entirety. That's what I though this product was. So, if you're looking for the music as it can be heard while actually watching the movies, you're looking at the wrong product. So, upfront I will tell you that my initial expectations for this product were shattered when I popped these disks into the CD changer. But, in all fairness, I must say that what I was looking for doesn't exist anymore. It turns out that SEVERAL of the original music tracks from at least one of the 3 movies (FAFDM) have been destroyed, misplaced or lost to the ravages of time. It does not exist in that format anymore. You can get fairly close with some other pricey international releases from BMG and GDM. (if you don't mind sound bytes from the original films) But, unless some awesome technology becomes available in the future, you'll never get all of the music out of the films. (the only place left to get all of it) With that having been said, I will move on and tell you what you DO get with this product, which actually isn't that bad in all fairness.

Some awesome classical musicans got together and actually came up with a classy version of virtually all of the music from the Trilogy. Many of the same instruments (or at least fairly similar) can be heard throughout, so they didn't stray far with it. So, this isn't exactly elevator music, since much of the ambience of the original music still comes through quite well. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's quite tasteful in some regards.

Ennio Marricone's finest stuff, especially considering the studio didn't give him much of a budget to do anything! Creative, inspired, inventive, lots of adjectives could apply. Even if you're too young to have seen the movies, i.e. the dollars trilogy, you'll love the music that went with the story, the Eastwood breakout as some folks call them.

Every time I play this sound track the gold old days of young Clint Eastwood and the cast of actors in his movies take me back to the days when western movies were fun to watch. They don't make movies like that any more and the stars that made those movies great are fading away.

I realize that there is no existing soundtrack from any of the three movies, but some of the music in this set barely resembles that original score. Most disappointing was the title score for "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." Get it only if you're desperate for any of this music - used copies are cheap enough.

First let me say that these songs are fantastic, as they were originally recorded. These are not the original recordings. This version was produced by Recording Artists. Many parts of these songs were digitally reproduced, which greatly detracted from my experience. This was the most cost effective option I found. Now I know the true price. I'm buying another version and I will be seeking an original recording with all of its additional richness and depth. I will also be avoiding the Recording Artists group in the future.

This sound track has a great fresh, rough twangy sound suggesting the spirit of the Wild West. The beat and rhythm suggest horses galloping or fleeing, percussion suggest gun shot, and there are also haunting melodies too with the occasional sound of a sad, haunting pan flute, contrasting with the jaunty atmosphere of riding a horse in wild open spaces with a sense of the leading character's control over his own destiny.Ennio Morricone: 1966-1987 (2CD Set)

I just love the musical score for these three Eastwood movies. Enino put together a great score, the tempo filled with little additions of organ, bells, and whistling of course. If you liked the movies, you'll love this 2 CD set of the three that started it all. Don't forget your spaghetti while listening.

Like pretty much everyone here, I am a huge fan of the Dollars trilogy, and a lover of the music. I got this CD set, not realizing that it was a remake of the original tracks. Not a deal-breaker, it's probably in the description somewhere and I missed it.

When I ripped these to my computer, I got goosebumps when I heard the beginning of the first track. Then, my left eyebrow raised a bit. At this point I realized that this was not the original track. Again, wasn't a big deal at the time.

As I moved through the songs, I started to have this nagging feeling, "Are these MIDI songs?" I don't believe them to be, but at some points it just doesn't sound right in the instruments they used, and the volume was too level for all instruments, especially in "L'estasi dell'oro", or "Ecstasy of Gold". I could hardly hear the woman singing, and all the instruments played at the same volume. It was very distracting. The woman's voice should be louder, and the trumpets and trombones, should have been more dominant.

It almost sounded like the people playing the music weren't enjoying it, so they just scraped by with the minimum. There was no "feeling" behind it.

There is a version here on Amazon that is a perfect example of how The Ecstasy Of Gold should have sounded. Look up "Once Upon A Time - The Essential Ennio Morricone Film Music Collection" and look up that track. THAT is feeling, and that is the "power" behind the music that I mentioned. When I listen to that, then go back to this CD, it tears me up just thinking of how great this collection could have been- and wasn't.

I'll probably hang onto this CD set, but I really felt burned by the way it was executed.
