NOTHING on taping joints with paper tape, August 15, 2010
This review is from: Complete Drywall (Stanley Complete) (Paperback)
The book has major omissions and an uneven selection and presentation of topics. It does not address how to use paper tape at all, including "inside corners". But, if you wish to "frame a curved wall"--THAT matter appears to be addressed (I didn't study it). Here is the book's full coverage on inside corners: "Inside corners are more difficult. They require taping and mudding." How could a 140 page book called "Complete Drywall" overlook how to tape an inside corner? If you want decent coverage of mudding technique, you won't find it in this book. The book has pictures on every page--evidently the publisher's emphasis was on saleability rather than useability.
I have since purchased the book "Drywall (Completely Revised & Updated)", by Myron Ferguson, 3rd. ed.:
Drywall: Professional Techniques for Great Results
It is a MUCH, MUCH BETTER book for someone who intends to be doing their own drywall work. I would not hesitate to give it a 5 star rating. By comparison, Stanley's book does not (properly) equip someone to do quality drywall work. Myron Ferguson is a drywall veteran! Ferguson's book has lots of pictures too--and more useful ones!

Excellent Book for beginners!, May 28, 2006
This review is from: Complete Drywall (Stanley Complete) (Paperback)
This book has everything to get you started. Great introduction, excellent section divisions, nice photos, details and pro-tips. This book will get you through all of the phases of drywalling. Personally, I leave the final finishing (i.e., top coats) up to the pros, since this aspect is the most talent intensive. I suppose with time and following the instruction, you could master all of the drywall techniques. Also, all of the other "Stanley" DIY books are great! Great price too!

Good Book, December 24, 2008
This review is from: Complete Drywall (Stanley Complete) (Paperback)
This book has a lot of good information in it. Probably the best drywall book I have read. Great for someone wanting to learn how to drywall without much experience. If you have experience maybe not much in here for you. The little tips and tricks aren't really included. But the groundwork is layed very well.
