Not Totally New,
By Hendrix F. Ham (Manchester, Tennessee United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Complete GED Preparation (Paperback)
This book should prepare one for the NEW GED, but the book itself is NOT totally new. The greatest changes are in the areas of math and writing, but even these pages are largely a repeat of Steck-Vaughn's old book aimed at preparing one for the l988 edition of the GED.Most of the publisher's hype about the book are unfounded. It, for example, is clearly not the biggest GED book available, despite that claim on the cover. And it most certainly is NOT the best. If you buy individual study guides for each subject, then you don't need this book. It is just a condensed reprint of the others.

My son is homeschooled and will be taking his GED within the next year. This is the GED book used by our local school system. It is very complete. There is no question that when he masters most of this information, he will pass the tests. THis is not an easy book, it is challenging. I bought it here at a significant savings.

Best GED Preparation Book,
This review is from: Complete GED Preparation (Paperback)
This book is the closest thing to the real GED test that you can get. I was very impressed with it and passed the GED with flying colors. It helped me to get a 99 in both Science and Language Arts Writing, and the lowest score I got was a 94 in Math. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to pass the GED test.

Took the GED Test,
By Jenn (MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Complete GED Preparation (Paperback)
Before taking my GED test I studied for about a month using this book. My weakness is math so I figured if I did not know the geometry or trigonometry part of the test I would use deductive reasoning with the multiple choice questions. The book indicated that all questions on the actual GED test were multiple choice. Well, that was not the case. Out of 50 questions on part 1 & 2 at least 15-20 questions were NOT multiple choice! Also, please be aware that the majority of the test was based on geometry & trigonometry. Good luck to all who take this test!

This book prepares a student to take the new GED test in a focused manner. The pre-test provides an excellent prescription of they student's strengths and weaknesses. Best one volume preparation book on the market.

Just Okay,
This review is from: Complete GED Preparation (Paperback)
I am a teacher in a drug rehab clinic for teens. Often I have students wanting to complete their GED. This text is nice because it offers all GED subjects in one book. However, I have found that it does not fully explain the examples given. Especially in the Math section, it will give an example then move on to the practice problems without explaining how to do the example. My students usually need step by step instructions when learning how to do solve the problems, which this book does not always offer. I will say that the book does cover a wide variety of topics within the GED so that students are exposed to many different types of problems before taking the actual test.
