Great tunes, even better lyrics. I assume this represents Willie's Nashville period, before he rebelled and left town. Too bad. As much as we love his later stuff, this stuff is better. Far, far better. These melodies, while somewhat similar, are beautiful. Listen to "Will you Remember Mine" and show me a prettier melody. And how about the line "at least her memory follows me around"? Willie's vocal on "I hope so" is tremendous. I've listened to this stuff for 25 years; it ages well. I saw him in concert last month. He only does one of these songs (Nightlife). Why in the world would this guy sing other people's songs in concert when he's got this to fall back on? What an unusual career he's had!
