5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!
A Steve Winwood collection isn't complete without these classic tracks. Anyone who bought the Finer Things boxed set was shocked to learn that the album that Crossing The Line (live) came from was not available on CD. Now, not only is Go Live From Paris here but the original Go studio album and Go Too.

These remastered space jams and classic rock sound better...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good news - bad news !!
First the good one : The holy grail of many progressive rock fans is available on cd now. Fantastic music, great players !!
Now the bad news : There has not been any remastering. The sound of Go and Go Too is quite OK, but the audio quality of Live from Paris is horrible, quite like a seventies bootleg. Sounds like it is copied from an old, scratchy LP...

A Steve Winwood collection isn't complete without these classic tracks. Now, not only is Go Live From Paris here but the original Go studio album and Go Too.

These remastered space jams and classic rock sound better than ever. The only annoying thing here is that the songs on Go [studio] and Go Live In Paris aren't separated. For example: album side one (7 tracks) is clumped together as track 1 on the CD.

I have to disagree w/ the previous reviewer regarding the "bad news" part of this release. While the sound quality of the live recordings is not comparable to that of the studio tracks, it's nowhere as bad as "a scratchy bootleg LP " I will admit that I've never heard the original vinyl of "Go Live In Paris" so I can't compare it but, to my ears this release doesn't sound any worse than many official ( major label) live recordings of the same time period. The only bad news concerning this release ( for me ) is "Go Too " This is not due to anything Raven has done w/ this particular release ( like mastering or mixing ) but, rather because the music on this 2nd album just happens to be awful and bears no resemblance to the first album. But this is a small gripe considering how easy it is to push the "stop" button on my CD player. The "Go" & "Go Live.." material is beautiful. And it's nice to hear these tracks in the order that they were intended to be played (as they are presented live ).All in all it's a treat to have this stuff available on CD finally so, enjoy !

Why that ? What about the original tapes ? Shame on raven !!

I got this Cd over a recomendation of a friend of mine who told me it was very good and with that line up I was very curious about it. Al Dimeola who needs no introduction, Steve Winwood from Traffic, German Electronica pioneer Klaus Schulze (Cosmic Jokers, Tangerine Dream), Ex Santana's drummer Michael Shrieve contributes with Stomu Yamashta in this really mind blowing Space/Fusion/Jazz/Rock stravaganza that makes this CD a must. Highly recommended

I bought the original GO and GO TOO brand new on LP Vinyl many years ago unfortunate couldn't find the Live in Paris version and the GO sesions on CD till now all in one and only if was digitally re mastered I would give it a 5/5 still a pretty good album 4 and a half out of 5 so if your into jazzrock fusion and like Aldi Meola's guitar playing as much as I do is worth buying recommended .

I bought this album on vinyl in the late 70s while in college. Yamashta's beautiful synths and thundering percussion meld perfectly with Winwood's crystal clear voice to create a modern fusion masterpiece. A who's who of late 70s music contributes to this masterpiece. Is it jazz? Pop? Ambient? Classical? You be the judge. Rejoice that this is now available in all it's CD glory!

Oh, what a fabulous piece of music! And only on vinyl for far too long. I have always loved this. But it's not good driving music for me--it's just waaay too spacey! I just might drive off the road and straight out of our solar system!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great addition for Stomu fans, September 18, 2009

This review is from: Complete Go Sessions (Audio CD)
Let me start by saying my first Stomu Yamashta media was an 8-track of Go Too. I was hooked. I also have the albums of Go and Go Too (at least 3 of each due to trying to find the perfect album back in the day, with no pops or crackles) but due to the style of this artist, there always seemed to be a pop or crackle in the soft parts. I then found a great copy of Go Too on cd but Go was impossible to find. I then found and bought a LP-R on cd which I never heard of until I bought several years back. This a cd that was made professionally but direct off an LP (Album). The copy is great and sounds like a perfect LP with awesome LP frequency response and sound.

Now to this cd set. It sounds crisp and clean in a cd sort of way (not the warmth of album) with the normal digital sound and although I agree that 'Live' is not the same sound quality of the other 2 albums included here, it sounds good. Like another reviewer stated, there is no remastering done and not alot of info regarding 'Go Too' or 'Live' but more concentrated on 'Go'. Although I love almost all the songs on these discs, there are times when I would like to hear one song more often. Unfortunately unlike my LP-R, the 'Go' and 'Go Live' only have track breaks at the beginning of where each of the album sides were to start and not tracked for individual songs. Yes, with these albums it is tough to do as each song blends into the next, but they managed on the LP-R and although it does not sound perfect all the time, it is there. On 'Go Too' each song is its own track. I bought this set for a cd quality sound of 'Go' and 'Go Live'.

As far as the style of music that Stomu Yamashta falls into, like others say, it is tough. It is a mixture of Jazz, Progressive, Fusion, Space and Rock. Now of course each person has their own definition of each Genre but with this artist, he falls into many.

If you like synthesizers, you will probaly like this. The most comparable I can think of is a little of Alan Parsons-Kraftwerk and Pink Floyd rolled into one. Now, I am loosley comparing for those who wonder what kind of sound to expect. With Michael Shrieve, Steve Winwood and Al Dimeola, it is quite a mix of awesome music that you turn up, sit between your speakers like we used to do in the 70's and just 'space out'.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lost "Pink Floyd" Album, March 9, 2008

I have Go and Go Live on vinyl. Many years ago a good friend and Stevie Winwood fanatic turned me on to this album. To me it's like the "Lost Pink Floyd" album. Like the sequel to "Dark Side of the Moon." It's every bit as spacey and every bit as well composed and well played (Maybe even better).
I have yet to pick up the complete Go Sessions, but will as soon as the budget allows. I just listened to the LP's the other night after not hearing them in years. They hold up well. This is a "band" I'd love to see reunite and tour!

I do have the 2 LP's of the Go session 'Live in Paris', but the quality is poor. I am very happy with these 2 cd's, with not only 'Live from Paris', but also Go Too!
