You need this book. April 3, 2000

I'm lucky enough to have some books listed on Amazon.com. One day I noticed that sales just jumped. I found out that Dan Gray had listed one of my titles on his website and was selling it through Amazon.com's Associate program. Dozens of other websites had done the same but none boosted sales the way Dan's did.

When I learned that Dan had written this book, I had to get it. Those jumping book sales meant that this was somebody who knew what he was writing about.

The advice in this book helped my son and I design, set up and promote a new website and affiliate program. The hints on getting listed with search engines got our little site noticed fast. Dan Gray has tried and tested his ideas. This is how-to information that works. If you're planning a website and thinking about affiliate sales programs, you need this book.

wading through the fluff... February 14, 2000
Format:Paperback
Don't waste your MONEY on this book. Even for beginners I can't comprehend the previous rave reviews...hmmm...makes you wonder. The first 1/3 of this book is decent but extremely watered -down, the breadth of the definitions and explanations can be found in just about any simple search for "affiliate programs" in any search engine. A 1/3 of this book is just affiliate profiles by company(these can be esily viewed at the affiliate company's site), the last 1/3 of this book are just company histories of those affiliates(good if you haven't read those twinkling success stories in all the other books that use them, useless if you are interested in fundamental strategies to fully capitilize on affiliate programs for yourself (something that is loosely referred to in this book). Although resources on this subject are limited, I would recommend online info as they seem to have the most current affiliate info. One good site that i found valuable info is at:

Author Daniel Gray provides a good background of the affiliate industry and why you should, at least, consider selling products and services from your site through the affiliate model. In addition to some merchant profiles and affiliate success stories, "The Complete Guide..." features a directory of the top 100 affiliate programs with contact information, commission structures, and all of the other relevant details of each program.

The book also touches on the importance of obtaining top listings in the search engines and directories, as well as tips on building a quality site. Overall a good introduction to the potentially lucrative world of affiliate programs.
