I'm a tour guide for the Boston area, and I frequently use this book for reference. I love this book. I've had to buy it twice because I ruined my first copy by reading it so much and taking it everywhere. It's small, light and totally portable, so if your here walking the trail it's the perfect companion. If your not here walking the trail, you should be! This book will take you step by step through the Freedom Trail, give you really good suggestions and directions, and bombard you with useful and interesting historical information. It also provides the times, and admission fees for sites. Basically, it is your very own tour guide minus the crowd and rush of the tour (not to mention the over enthusiastic, babbling, yet good natured guide). Take your time, learn and enjoy!

"The Complete Guide To Boston's Freedom Trail" is more than a mere guidebook. Whether you live in, are planning to visit, or have no plans to visit the area this book is a must read for those interested in Boston and the era of the American Revolution. This book has many historical tidbits and is written in a lighthearted, conversational tone. I have walked the Freedom Trail in Boston a few times, mostly piecemeal, but plan to do so in total now that I have this book. Having read this book gives me a much greater appreciation for the Boston landmarks and I believe walking the trail with this book as a guide will provide for a more complete experience. An easy read with tremendous value - highly recommended.

This was a great guide to the freedom trail - we used it so we could do the trail on our own schedule but still feel like we were getting all of the information we would get on a tour. Highly recommended. The only thing to be aware of is that it is a little outdated, so some of the logistical things were inaccurate and you might want to double check on them if it's important to you (for example, a bathroom near the Burial Ground doesn't exist anymore (a bad thing for us!), tours on the Constitution go later than indicated in the book (this worked out well!), and the old tea party ship is no longer there.

Just a must-have for history of the Freedom Trail. Step-by-step guide through the trail which is great for a self-guided tour.
