I ordered this book because a writers group I am in is reading it together. I was disappointed to find, when I got it, that it was published in 2001. The writing advice is good - that's not something that changes much with time. But the information on submitting articles to magazines and working toward getting a book published is horribly out of date. I would recommend skipping the book and doing publishing research online. You can easily find some very good blogs written by agents and publishers that will tell you much of what you need to know about the industry.

This is a very informative book, written by several people. It is simple to read and understand. It is one of those books you can not put down.There is so much valuable information in it. From editing, to conferences, to internet research, writing for different markets to contracts. I have highlighted and underlined and made footnotes and notes in the back of the book. Susan the general editor is an amazing women, I love the way she put this book together! I am a book lover, so over the years I have accumulated hundreds of books. I continually have to give away books to make room for new books. This is one book I keep close at hand on my desk.

Most aspiring authors are looking for how-to books. The choices are diverse. What sets this book apart is the writers' willingness to openly share what hey have learned in their area of expertise. As a visual learner, I loved the examples that serve as a model to develop excellent projects. Thanks for pulling this all together.
