While I liked the general information in the book, I found it very basic regarding Forex. [...] A fair to good basic discussion of Forex, but lacking in usable information to actually trade with. The discussions of technical indicators is very weak. On page 167 it discusses the "Head and Shoulders Pattern." It defines the left shoulder, the right shoulder, and the Head, but does not say what the pattern means or what a trader could use the pattern for. I would not recommend the book to anyone who is seriously trading the Forex market.

Both FOREX and investing are very deep subjects. I anticipated that upon reviewing this book, I would be greeted by a stuffy, overblown financial dictionary full of terminology that I couldn't understand.

I was wrong.

This book takes a very deep and complex subject and breaks it down in to easy to digest chunks that makes FOREX and investing very easy to understand. An easy read, I could not put it down.

So why not 5 out of 5 stars? Why the 1/2 star deduction?

Just a little too much filler. For example, there are pages that are taken up by graphs instead of content. Because the author, Jamaine Burrell, wrote this book so well...I would have liked to have seen more content, and less graphic presentation.

Enjoy this book. I did.

This book is a quick read and I felt it gave me a decent overview of currency trading at a very high level. It contains very little detailed information about how to go about getting started. I would have loved to see some screen shots of the trading software platforms that are vaguely referred to.

The subtitle "How to earn high rates of return safely..." is substantially untrue - there is a negligible amount of "how to" information in the book and no information at all about how to hedge trades or offset losses. There is also no coverage at all about options or futures other than a brief dismissal. The book is entirely focused on speculative short-term spot (day) trading.

The book is very cheaply produced. For example, the chapter on Technical Analysis attempts to explain charting patterns completely with words - there is not a single picture. The whole point of technical analysis is to analyze graphical data!

The book is also sloppily edited with many obvious instances of cut and paste. Several are erroneous. Roughly 80 of the approximately 250 "real" pages in the book are dedicated to fairly useless appendices.

Overall I'm fairly happy I purchased this book but I feel it is worth about half the price I paid for it.

this book was very general, gave alot of basic ideas but with little support, 10 pages on technical analysis but with no charts. OVerall this book was alot of reference, not enough useful information. [..]. Disappointed with purchase.

I'm sorry to say but this book is not giving me anything to learn only a bunch of information that you can get thru googling the terms like what is GDP, PPI, CPI etc, this book is not telling you anything the most important thing about trading like how to trade ( Technical ), risk management, or even trading psikology.

This is a disappointing book. It promises a lot and delivers little. There is not much in this book that a college sophomore who has taken micro and macro economics would not know about markets, the CPI, the GDP, and so on as it impacts the currency of the United States and how similar indicators work in other nations. A survey of the FED and the US banking system as well as those of the G8 nations takes up about the first half of this book.

The section on fundamental analysis is similarly sophomoric in its explanations. The section on technical analysis, while it describes various patterns, charts and other tools does not show ONE graph as an example to spirit the discussion and enhance one's understanding of what is a complex topic.

This books gets a D+ and should only be your first choice only if you are completely unaware of the economic drivers in major nations.

I wish I had burnt some bucks and never bought this scam book. The only thing that the author thought about is how can I make money when I failed badly in real trading, I don't know how he was allowed to publish this scam. The name of the book is another story (The complete guide to ....etc) this book - honestly - doesn't cover %1.95 of the market. Actually it doesn't speak about any thing. very poor and lousy book. I waited more than a month to receive the book and then finished reading it in 19 minutes.

My advice to you is do any thing with your money but purchasing this scam book. otherwise you'll writing a similar comment like mine after receiving it.

If you haven't read anything about FX market, this may be a good start. But if you already read any introductory handbook, this one will be redundant.

Also I agree that there was too much of reference. There is ca. 190 pages of real content and ca 90 pages of additional stuff that generally could be found in the Internet.

The Complete Guide to Currency Trading and Investing was written to help people understand what exactly currency trading is, how to reduce the risks that are involved with any type of investment, and what exactly you need to know before you start trading money. No type of investments is risk-free, but if you want to avoid some of these risks, this is the book to read, because it has everything you need to get started.

Burrell introduces readers to currency trading. First, she gives important information about the major central banks around the world, and how some of the fluctuations in prices of certain goods can affect the price of those currencies. Burrell also manages to tell about the ins and outs of FOREX, which is crucial for trading currencies. I found that the most important parts of this book were learning how to make a plan, how to do research on what currencies to buy and sell, and what information you need to reduce your risks. By the time I finished the end of this book, I was thinking like someone who had experience in trading money, able to understand the lingo that is used in the industry, knew how to open an account to trade money and had a bit of confidence in the subject.

One of the downsides of this book is that there isn't a glossary, so if you need to refresh your memory on the meaning of one of these many terms, you have to rely on the index to go back and read up on it. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to diversify their portfolio, and has the time to actually do the research that's involved in doing their own currency trades. The book is well written, easy to read, and full of information that is practical and difficult to find in any other single source. So, do I think that I will start investing in and trading currencies? Probably not, but I can see that this book can help others who are interested in learning more about the subject.

Well-written and easy to understand, this book offers an excellent introduction to anyone looking to enter the complicated world of currency trading. To someone like me who had only a passing knowledge of the world of international finance, this book provides a strong base of knowledge and levels the playing field for a newcomer with a passion to learn. The chapter devoted to the Forex Market was especially useful to me and is a must read for anyone even just interested in learning more about currency trading and investing.

Like so many specialized fields, currency trading has its own language, language that can be daunting to a newcomer to the field. Burrell does a stellar job of weaving explanations of important terms seamlessly throughout the text. After reading this book, I feel much more confident getting involved in discussion about currency trading and in following the market news. I also feel Burrell made clear the possible perils of currency trading and investing, never seeking to glamorize this volatile market.

Burrell's obvious knowledge on the subject combined with strong writing skills made this book enjoyable to read and easy to understand. Whether you're a former English major who never took a class on finance, or a former Finance major just trying to reconnect with the industry, this book is a must-have for the reference shelf of anyone interested in currency trading and investing.
